When Jesus walked on this earth, he made some promises:In the last sentence of the Gospel of Matthew, where the risen Lord Jesus makes a promise to the eleven Apostles on a mountain in Galilee, in Matthew 28:20, he says, “I am with you always, until the end of the age.”Jesus’ promise at the Last Supper in John 16:13: The Holy Spirit “will guide you to all truth.”Jesus’ promise to St. Peter in Matthew 16:18: “You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.”Jesus is true to his promises. Don’t put your focus on any one bishop or pope, but rather on Jesus Christ. Resist the polarizing tendency of social media. Commit yourself to passing on the precious gift of our Catholic faith through the catechetical ministry of religious education of youth and the Christian initiation of adults. During this time of Eucharistic Revival in the United States, devote your time and energy to the study and articulation of the truth of the Holy Eucharist.Pray for our Church and all its leaders.
