Two significant military anniversaries occur today, June 6. On this day in 1918, U.S. Army and Marine regiments went on the offensive during the Battle of Belleau Wood in France — one of the bloodiest and most hard-fought battles of World War I. Last fall, French Knights made a pilgrimage there to honor the fallen. Twenty-six years after Belleau Wood, on June 6, 1944, Allied forces stormed Normandy beaches, beginning the drive to liberate France — a major turning point in defeating the Axis powers in Europe. Among the Knights participating in the D-Day invasion was Master Sgt. Louis Graziano. Today, at 99 years old, Graziano is also the last-known living witness to the German surrender during World War II.

French Knights Honor Fallen of Belleau WoodIn June 1918, the Imperial German Army was 35 miles outside Paris and advancing quickly with aims to capture the city and end the war. To stem the attack, U.S. regiments arrived at Belleau Wood to fight alongside the French. On Nov. 21, 2021, a group of Knights of Columbus in France traveled to Bois Belleau to pay their respects at a monument dedicated to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. WATCH VIDEO

‘To Bring About Peace’A Ukrainian delegation consisting of six active-duty military, four mothers of fallen soldiers, two military officials, two military chaplains and the bishop for the Ukrainian Military Ordinariate participated in the International Military Pilgrimage in Lourdes, France, May 13-15, thanks to K of C financial support.

Dear Brother Knights,As you may know, the Bishops of the United States have called for a National Eucharistic Revival, challenging Catholics across the US to deepen their reverence for Jesus Christ, truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. As I have said before, we are honored to support the National Eucharistic Revival. As Knights of the Eucharist, it is our task to deepen our own devotion. This can be done through prayer, faithful attendance at Mass, and Adoration. To support you, your families, and your communities as you grow in your commitment to the Eucharist, the Supreme Council has developed and gathered resources both for personal and council use. Among these resources are Eucharistic Procession training videos and guides that you and your councils are invited to use in support of your parishes. These resources have been developed in consultation with the USCCB and have been shared with dioceses across the country.I am also happy to share with you a new inspirational and catechetical video, The Eucharist: Source of our Healing and Hope, that will help strengthen your knowledge of and love for the mystery of the Eucharist. All of these resources and more can be found at www.kofc.org/eucharist.
The National Eucharistic Revival will officially launch on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, June 19, 2022, and many dioceses and parishes are planning celebrations and Eucharistic Processions to mark the occasion. Please make it a priority to familiarize yourself with the resources available to you and your councils to support this important initiative and to stand ready to assist your pastors and bishops both in these Eucharistic Processions and in all of their plans to renew belief in and devotion to the Eucharist.Vivat Jesus!Fraternally,
Patrick E. Kelly
Supreme Knight

“Almighty God, You know every veteran by name. You know their deeds, their hard work, and their perseverance. You know their needs, both material and spiritual. Please draw each one closer to you and grant them all the peace that passes understanding (Philippians 4:7), the peace of Christ to rule in their hearts (Colossians 3:15), and ‘joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand’ forevermore (Psalm 16:11).”

Vivat Jesus!

Everyone’s situation is different and warrants the attention of their own tax, legal or accounting professional. But there are some recognized experts in the field who can impart valuable general wisdom. I want to invite you to hear from one of those experts.

More than 175 active-duty personnel and veterans from the United States military participated in the annual Warriors to Lourdes pilgrimage from May 10-16 in Lourdes, France. The pilgrimage, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, offered servicemen and women a time to engage in religious activities available at the renowned Catholic pilgrimage site.

‘A Better Me as I Go Back Home’Cadet officer Rhyan Ritter experienced a profound spiritual transformation during the 8th annual Warriors to Lourdes pilgrimage, an event sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA.“Coming here and being in such a rich spiritual, sacred place has helped my heart open up and see things from a different light that helped take this tension off my shoulders,” explained Ritter, who is an officer cadet in the U.S. Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. “Lourdes has given me the strength to keep going and live more faithfully as a Catholic.”To read more and view photos, click here.
