Knights of Columbus around the world are called to respond to their neighbors’ needs, whether by assisting refugees of war, providing relief to those affected by natural disasters, or helping a local food pantry keep its shelves stocked. Below are some of the latest examples of the Order’s work through the Ukraine Solidarity Fund and Knights rising to the specific challenges of their communities.
 
Father Marek Bator, director of Caritas Częstochowa, and Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly exchange jackets April 14 during the supreme knight’s Holy Week visit to Poland and Ukraine. The exchange took place at the Caritas-run retreat center outside Częstochowa that is serving as an orphanage for more than 100 Ukrainian refugee children with support from the Order’s Ukraine Solidarity Fund.
Order Forges Partnerships to Help UkrainiansTo help provide relief to displaced people in Ukraine and refugees who have fled to Poland, the Knights of Columbus has forged key partnerships with organizations such as the Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA) and Caritas, and has received vital support from various individuals and groups, including U.S.-based Goya Foods. WATCH VIDEO
 
Crafting Crosses for CharityA Knight in New City, N.Y., used his talent for making crafts out of stained glass to help his council feed families in need. Members of St. Augustine’s Council 15192 distributed more than 60 crosses and collected $2,000 in donations for the Rockland County Catholic Charities Food Pantry. READ MORE
 
New Mexico Wildfire ReliefThe Hermits Peak/Calf Canyon Fire is the largest wildfire in New Mexico state history, consuming more than 300,000 acres and forcing 25,000 people to evacuate. Since early May, Knights from Nuestra Señora Del Rosario Council 10517 in Santa Fe have been helping to provide displaced families with basic necessities including food, water and clothing. WATCH VIDEO | READ MORE
