VOLUME 39 │ NUMBER 20 │ MAY 19, 2021
On Pentecost Sunday, May 23, the Church remembers the first Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles, who proceeded to heroically witness to the Good News of salvation. It was that same Spirit that guided the faithful Catholics who died for their faith during a time of persecution in Mexico known as the Cristero War. We celebrate 25 of these martyr-saints, including six members of the Knights of Columbus, on their feast day May 21.

Blessed by the Blood of the Martyrs
Thanks to the generosity of many donors, including $2 million in grants and a subsequent $1 million loan from the Knights of Columbus, construction on the Sanctuary of the Martyrs of Christ the King began in 2007. Though the work is not finished yet, it has already become an important place of pilgrimage for the Knights and other Catholic faithful in Mexico. Click here to read more about the shrine from Columbia.
